Civil War Vacation Day 3

From June 30

Petersburg

City Point

Cold Harbor

Gaines Mills

Malvern Hill

Richmond Musem

Yellow Tavern

North Anna

All are pretty navigable and have some great spots to stop and walk around if you have the time. Got to Petersburg around 730 am and explored before doing the visitor center. City point is a short trip after that. From there Gaones Mill, Malvern Hill and Cold Harbor are quick and easy to get to. Then bounced back to Richmond to cool off with the heat at 100 degrees. Yellow Tavern for the Jeb Stuart Memorial and then North Anna which seems to be a very quiet spot. Not too difficult of a hike and nice to cool off in the woods while it was very hot out!

Civil War Vacation Day 2

Bentonville and Appomattox, where I also stopped at "The Civil War Museum in Appomatox" on the journey north! Look for a Day 3 post this evening to try to get caught up to present day on the trip!

Bentonville was extremely spread out and the Visitor Center was quite small, only a few photos from there. Appomattox Museum was one of the better ones I had been to, seems to formerly have been called the "CSA Civil War Museum" as there were a few road signs that still called it that and the Musem is entirely CSA artifacts that appears to have been redone in the last 10 or so years. Appomattox surrender site and battlefied is extremely well taken care of, easy walking paths!

Civil War Vacation

Inspired to post due to the other person here that has been posting! (This is a bit delayed as I'm currently on day 4 and may do 2 posts to get caught up, but wanted to share for those that cannot make it!)

Day 1

Fort Sumter, SC and Fort Fisher, NC

Ferry guide at Fort Sumter was fantastic. Fort Fisher had more visitors than I anticipated!
