Silicone on threaded fittings and orings.

Upgraded to a sand filter so I am going from the 1.25 to 1.5” hoses. There’s threads and o rings , should I assemble them all dry or use some silicone to seal them? Or is there something else to use?

The pool has one inlet port, and two outlet ports (suction), I was going to put a plunger valve on the inlet, and one outlet so I can have better suction for a pool vac.

Basically I’m going 1.25 from the pool to the plunger (1.5) , back to the 1.25 hose to an adapter at the pump. I was going to convert the pool to the 1.5” but it seams easier to convert the pump to 1.25.

Last year I got an oval 3000 gallon above ground pool. Its filter/pump left a lot to be desired and I really struggled to keep it clean so it wasn’t as enjoyable.

I’m looking at upgrading from the intex c1000 canister style pump (I bought it as a slightly upgraded one that came with the pool.).

Any opinion on an intex 2100 Krystal clear sand pump?

I want the ability to hook up a vac to help clean the pool.
