My Harbor Freight dust collector has entered its final form

Finally got my dust collector setup finished, and honestly, I am pretty proud of this one. This started as a Harbor Freight dust collector with an upgraded impeller, and then turned into a full garage side quest.

I tried to include photos as I progressed, from the mounting and filter setup to everything finally being in place. I wall mounted the 2 HP motor on a 3/4 inch plywood board using a 2x6 French cleat tied into studs with 5/16 structural screws. I also added lower lock screws because I do not trust vibration, gravity, or my own optimism.

The cyclone is an Oneida Super Dust Deputy dropping into a plastic drum, and the filter is mounted on its own plywood backer with a shelf and gussets underneath sealed with gray foam marine/automotive weatherstrip and silicone.

This is a massive upgrade from the Ridgid shop vac setup I have been using for far too long and utilizing a "dead space" in the garage with the dust right tool attachment system. For now it runs, pulls air, and nothing has tried to leave the wall. That feels like a win.

Pittsburgh Creeper Modded

Used the ROADSHOCK 12V Utility/Rock White LED Light, 2 Pack - Item 57205 to add lights to the creeper. Not my idea, but built it and it worked.

Rubber ramps from VEVOR are worth it if you work on your car in the driveway instead of the garage

I’m sure many of you also have a garage filled with too much shit, so you have to take your tools outside to work on your vehicle. The lifting of hundreds of pounds, rattling around, drawers opening, stuff falling over, has all been resolved by these two ramps. They’re not even glued down and they still have worked flawlessly.

No, that’s not affiliate link, I don’t earn anything.

Another USGS3 Butcher Block Top

Yet another example of a 1.5" thick maple butcher block top with a 56" plus 2 15" end cabinets. Used router to create channel on underside for the cabinet's raised edges so it sits flush and does not move. I added high quality COB LED strip on underside of the front lip with a motion sensor. Such a luxury having the lights work on every drawer which is surprisingly helpful and love it so far. Garage is still in flux and haven't put the full array in final resting place.

Added a Separator to the HF Dust Extractor

Replaced the old Rigid shop vac with a HF Hercules dust extractor. I kept the old separator I had been using. The last few pics show the first dump. Lots of dust in the separator and not much in the extractor.

Truck bed tool box

How do I keep my tools from rusting in my tool box that I keep in my truck bed.
I have a durable plastic tool box should I just get a metal one or keep the plastic one?
