I’m going to replace the muffler on my ‘98 Jeep Cherokee. I’ve done a ton of muffler swaps on my old project cars, but this is my daily so I’m trying to keep it as “non-sh*tbox” as possible.

Here’s two of the basic welded mufflers I’ve found:

Both of them a pretty much identical in build. But one of them says the center pipe is the inlet while the other says the center pipe is the outlet. My jeep needs the center inlet, offset outlet. 2.25” or 2.5”, it doesn’t matter because I’m doing the welding and fab work.

But with these welded mufflers, I know they’re not “reversible” like a glasspack or straight-thru. So what’s the correct way to install them?
