I'm on Windows 11 and I will get notification badges for emails in my inbox, but if the email goes into a folder I have to look directly at the folder to see if there's anything new in it. A normal-colored number does appear beside the folder but that's it, it does not stand out at all and there are otherwise no indications that there's a new email in there.
