Any updates on the new calendar?

Reassessing my calendar usage ahead of uni starting in a few weeks. I'm currently using Google Calendar. I'd love to switch to Proton, and I know they're working on a complete rewrite, but I also know that Proton can sometimes not meet the promises they make in the roadmaps. Have there been any updates about it since?

Is this really needed

Is there anyway to get rid of the useless floating Unread counter? I can just look and see my unread mail.

Are there more alternatives to the Google ecosystem, like Proton?

I just signed-up on Proton, basically to explore. Not switching yet.
But I am curious to know if there are any other alternatives to the Google ecosystem as of today?

What features is Proton Calendar Missing?

So, I never had a calendar app before. Proton seems pretty good (except for the premium only color customizing...) but I hear many people say it's lacking in features. I tried Zolo, which doesn't seem to be significantly different. I haven't tried big tech ones. So, what are those features P Cal is missing from bigger Cal apps ? So I can get an idea on how to compare it to other apps.

Sub-question: if you're using Nextcloud cal, does it have more features that Proton's? How does it compare?

Thank you

Is it too much to ask to get Dark Mode icons?

I didn't think something so basic would require posting on Reddit about it, but it is honestly shameful that we still don't have this on Android. The level of neglect is staggering.

AI for Emails

How do you balance privacy with wanting to use ChatGPT or AI to help get things done? Does anyone have a workflow or recommendations for this? I’m not aware of any Proton-native AI features yet

Such as using an AI-connected Gmail for newsletters and other unimportant junk + forwarding any emails you want AI to process from Proton to Gmail for example. This still requires manual email forwarding but then AI only sees the emails you want it to instead of your entire account

Open to ideas and suggestions, I have both personal and business emails, thanks

Is there a new feature where Proton identifies incoming email and puts them in a created folder?

I thought I read something about that several days ago but can't seem to figure it out. In fact I find the whole assigning labels/folders a bit confusing.

Automatic category filtering is finally here 🎉

Apologies for the rough screenshot censoring parts. But eh, we’ve got what we’ve been waiting for for ages!

Filter (sieve) working only approximately half the time

I'm getting some spam on a recipient mail address ("name+companyname@mydomain.com", used before aliases were introduced.

I created a sieve filter to remove them automatically. I don't want them in my spam box. To start and to test it, I made it to only apply a label and decided when it works correctly, to let it delete emails.

But I noticed it works only about half the time. About half the mails I get on this recipient email address have the label, the other half don't.

The filter is:

require ["include", "environment", "variables", "relational", "comparator-i;ascii-numeric", "spamtest"];
require ["fileinto", "imap4flags"];

# Generated: Do not run this script on spam messages
#if allof (environment :matches "vnd.proton.spam-threshold" "*", spamtest :value "ge" :comparator "i;ascii-numeric" "${1}") {
#    return;
#}

/**
* @type or
* @comparator ends
*/
if anyof (address :all :comparator "i;unicode-casemap" :matches ["To", "Cc", "Bcc"] ["*name+companyname@mydomain.com", "*name+companyname@mydomain.com", "*name+companyname@mydomain.com", "*name+companyname@mydomain.com", "*name+companyname@mydomain.com", "*name+companyname@mydomain.com"]) {
    fileinto "spam";
    fileinto "CompanyName leak";
    addflag "\\Seen";
    keep;
}

I had made it initially by creating a normal filter and converting to a sieve filter, so I could remove/comment out the "don't match spam" part of it).

When inspecting the headers, I don't notice anything that sets the matched and not-matched mails apart. They have the same To and X-Original-To, and nothing else is really significantly different.

Any ideas what may be up with this? How I could troubleshoot or fix?

Otherwise I'll just create a support ticket.

As a loyal Ultimate user I am very frustrated that Scribe feature in Mail is available only on Duo plan.

Is there any reason not to enable Proton Sentinel?

I don't currently have it enabled. Should I? What are the downsides? I'm not a high profile figure or a journalist.

Getting rid of inbox categories in new iOS app

I just installed the latest iOS version of the app and now I've got categories like "important" "social media" etc in my inbox. I don't like this and I found no way to get rid of this in the settings. Is there a way to show all messages? There's still a setting for all messages, but that includes spam and trash.

Help with some real experiences after adopting Drive and Pass

I currently have the following setup: ProtonMail (Plus) + GDrive (2TB) + Bitwarden (cheapest plan)
Considering some options, found the Proton 2TB plan which comes with the amount of Drive I need + Pass, both of them could do as replacements for my current stack.
Financially it makes sense and would be even cheaper. I also like the idea of ditching Google + Bitwarden after the new organization changes.
Problem is, both works absolutely great for me atm and I'm genuinely concerned about current Proton products capabilities, integrations etc even after reading a bit.

My main needs are:

Drive
- Fast and reliable desktop integration
- Support for offline folders and files
- General integrations (e.g the app I use on my phone called PhotoSync doesn't have direct integration with Proton Drive which may be a problem)
- Support for my different ecosystem of OS'es: iOS, MacOS, Linux

Pass
- Support for my different ecosystem OS'es and browsers (mainly Firefox)
- Other general stuff that I found to be supported like 2FA, data keys, attachments etc

Most of these are supported as far as I know and I can do my own research around it. I'm mostly interested in hearing from some people that already did a similar switch and also what your personal experiences are with Drive and Pass in particular. Specific hiccups, things that were easy, what wasn't and this kinda of thing.

Thank you!

German Law Compliant Email Archiving for Businesses

I would be so happy if Proton could do something like this where every incoming email gets saved for 10 years with NO way of deleting it. (I am pretty sure the law requires deletion to be impossible although even IONOS allows you to cancel your Email Archiving though I don't know if they still keep the old ones)

Collaborate with local ID Services like Germanys BundID/AusweisApp and the equivalent for other countries which map you to a real identity but the provider is the state so there are no privacy concerns.

Why not just login with your proton account? because that can be deleted and you will loose your access. Thats why it needs to be bound to a real identity, preferably your Tax-ID or something since as long as Germany for example knows of your existence, this Tax-ID cannot change.

Allow us to set multiple backup payment methods and if they all stop working stop archiving emails but keep the existing ones for 10 years as of receive date.

TED Talk, 2015: Think your email's private? Think again

A TED talk by Andy Yen, all the way back from 2015.

Sending an email message is like sending a postcard, says scientist Andy Yen in this thought-provoking talk: Anyone can read it. Yet encryption, the technology that protects the privacy of email communication, does exist. It's just that until now it has been difficult to install and a hassle to use. Showing a demo of an email program he designed with colleagues at CERN, Yen argues that encryption can be made simple to the point of becoming the default option, providing true email privacy to all.

Replying to e-mails UI — terrible

Hi everyone,

I'm an avid Proton Mail user — I like the ethos, I like the services Proton provide, but the user interface for replying to emails is terrible.

As you can see in the screenshot, the reply window covers up the email you're replying to. So you end up having to either minimise/maximise the reply window every few seconds to read what you want to reply to or do what I do which is open the email in another browser window so I can actually read what I'm replying to.

This is a small experience issue, but it's really annoying, why can't we just have the reply be under the email like it is in google mail?

Anyone else find this annoying?
