Still developing the Bebop 2 in 2026 — RF/power mods + new native macOS FreeFlight replacement

Hey r/parrotbebop - figured I should probably mention that I exist over here too

I’ve been doing quite a bit of development work on the Bebop 2 and SkyController 2 recently.

One project is my software RF/power work on the BCM43526 + SKY85803 setup, where I’ve been digging into the stock firmware/NVM configuration and testing higher-power RF profiles, range improvements and other BB2/SC2 parameters:

The newer project is a native Apple Silicon macOS replacement for FreeFlight Pro.

It currently connects a SkyController 2 directly to the Mac over USB using a custom USB networking driver, receives the Bebop 2 video stream, decodes it natively and displays telemetry/RF diagnostics. The first actual flight test worked, so now I’m mostly cleaning up bugs and expanding functionality.

The goal is to make it completely free and open source, and eventually expose a lot more of what the Bebop firmware already lets us control — camera/Dragon settings, RF configuration, motor parameters, payload weight settings, LiHV support and more.

The GitHub code will also be updated with the working macOS version once I finish the current cleanup.

Basically: the Bebop 2 and Bebop 1 may be old, but they definitely aren't dead yet dig yours out people:) Disco should also work!
