What the best beginner prep for to ensure the best trip possible

i have this problem that whenever i dream that my dreams aren't very vivid and usually become Nonsensical i also have very poor dream recall. its always like this and i can only remember a handful of dreams so far but i have never had any meaningful dreams as well as not ever having a nightmare(that i can remember) this has been a lifelong problem i have had with dreams especially.
