Hi! I´d like to know if there is a canonical answer to the question of whether Mordecai was directly named after Mordecai from the biblical book of Ester, after another Mordecai or if he just has the name because it sounds really cool. And if there isn´t a correct answer, what do you think?
I´m pretty sure this is a really dumb question, but I´m completely new to this whole topic, and my mother is constantly annoying me about it, so please, if someone could just tell me what the exact difference between the terms Gender non-conforming and genderqueer is. I promise I don´t mean any harm, even though, for all I know, this might be a sensitive topic. Thank you for helping.
Das hier ist vielleicht ein bisschen ungewöhnlich, aber ich glaube, einen besseren Subreddit werde ich nicht finden. Sagen wir einfach, mein Problem knüpft an das "Willkommen in der LinkedIn-Hölle"-Video an.
Eine sehr gute Freundin meinerseits hatte vor einiger Zeit einen längeren Klinikaufenthalt und hat währenddessen einen WhatsApp-Kanal eröffnet, um ihre Zeichnungen zu verkaufen. So weit, so gut. Sie war schon immer künstlerisch begabt. Die ersten Anzeichen, das irgendetwas ein bisschen seltsam ist, waren ihre Bio, in der sie sich selbst mit den Worten "Enterpreneuership" und "New-Money-Style" bezeichnete, außerdem hat sie angefangen, nur noch die Kurzform ihres Namens zu benutzen. Als sie dann wiederkam, hat sie verschiedenste BWL-Kurse gemacht, eine Initiative für besseres Lernen gegründet - die Website hat sie natürlich mit KI programmiert- , sich ein LinkedIn-Profil erstellt, von dem aus sie angeblich irgendwelche Führungspositionen angeboten bekommen hat, und war felsenfest entschlossen, noch vor dem Abitur mit Fachabi an eine Wirtschafts-Privatuni zu gehen. Sie ist übrigens 16, und ich meine das hier alles vollkommen ernst.
Der Grund, aus dem sie früher abgehen wollte, war, damit sie früher (schon mit 25) ins Berufsleben starten kann. Die Idee mit dem Fachabi hat sie dann trotzdem verworfen, weil sich herausgestellt hat, dass sie die richtige Hochschulreife braucht, um bei der Privatuni das Stipendium zu kriegen, das sie haben will. Zum Glück, finde ich, sie ist nämlich richtig gut in der Schule und hat gerade erst angefangen, in ihrem Jahrgang Freunde zu finden.
Der ganze Wahnsinn geht aber immer noch weiter, seit über einem Jahr. Sie hat es irgendwie geschafft, mit ihrer Initiative international zu gehen - der letzte Stand war, glaube ich, Indonesien - und stellt jetzt andere Ehrenamtliche ein. Sie meint, ihr großer Traum wäre es, eine Modelabel zu gründen und es für richtig viel Geld zu verkaufen, irgendwas von "Privatjet" hat sie auch gesagt. Ich habe den Eindruck, dass der Anteil der Platitüden in unseren Unterhaltungen sukzessiv zunimmt.
Das alles würde mich aber gar nicht stören, wenn es nicht so plötzlich gekommen wäre. Früher haben wir uns immer über so Sachen wie Literatur, Schreiben und manchmal auch Politik unterhalten, aber seit neuestem kennt sie nur noch BWL, und ich habe keine Ahnung, wie das passiert ist. Ich dachte erst, es könnte daran liegen, dass sie jetzt einen festen Freund hat, aber der Kerl scheint sich hauptsächlich für Physik zu interessieren und ist - anders als sie seit neuestem - ziemlich introvertiert, ich bezweifle also, das er das war.
Kann mir irgendjemand bitte helfen? Am Ende wird sie noch Mitglied in der FDP!
Today, I made Mock Towns Cherry Pie according to the recipe in the One Piece cookbook. It´s the one Blackbeard likes so much, although I believe that the cherries, which I got from the tree in my garden, are quite different from what you´d usually use. It´s quite tasty, but I understand why a meat-eater like Luffy wouldn´t be so fond of it, since it´s very sweet in comparison.
Today, an interesting question arose. I was practicing my flute in the living room, when my little brother came in groaning. He sat down in front of his play station while I was playing my pieces for school orchestra and spent about a quarter hour trying to annoy me out of the room, because he likes having it to himself. When he noticed that wasn´t working, he told me to leave so he could play his video games in peace. Because I was only about halfway through practice and didn´t want to go back to my schoolwork, I said no, to which he answered: "But you´ve been playing for 45 minutes straight now, that´s too much! It´s not like you want to become a professional!"
In the end, my mother came in and made us work something out, but the question still remains: How long should you actually practice daily if you are not aiming at a professional carreer in music?
And still, even though I´m not planning to earn money in a professional ensemble or anything, I am going to do a practical exam in music for my highschool degree, and I like to imagine that I´m going to go busking when I´m in university a few years from now. Also, I´m planning on learning an additional instrument soon. To me, at least one and a half hour of daily practice should be tolerable for my family. What do you think?
Hello! I´m currently preparing for a celtic studies minor (next to archaeology) in university and would like to explore some primary sources beforehand, because that´s what I enjoy doing and I´ve got an okay amount of time right now. I already know about the Book of Invasions, the Ulster cycle and the Fenian cycle. Does anyone have other recommendations about literature that you think is important and that I should maybe take a look at as well?
