Hitachi Model MT-1981 Vertical Collapse Help
Good day,
I am attempting my first crt repair with this beautiful 1981 Hitachi I recently acquired. I am familiar with the basics involved in repair in that I have safely discharged the crt and know I need to look into replacing capacitors as well as vertical IC. I can't find any manual for this specific tv and cannot locate which chip on the board is the vertical IC. I do not visually see any capacitors that are bulging/leaking so I don't know where to start diagnosing the problem. Yes, the board is a little dirty as it was sitting in a garage but everything seemed to work fine except for the vertical collapse issue (solid horizontal line when powered on.)
As for tools I have a multi meter that can read capacitance as well as a soldering iron. I assume best practise is to just replace every capacitor but I still need help identifying which chip is the vertical IC. I have not seen anywhere on the board labelled V Def or the like.
If anyone who has worked on similar or same model as this that can point me in a good starting direction that would be great. I am interested in learning more about crt repair so any other information or links are appreciated.
