Questionable Pit Etiquette; RA’s Right-side Pit

Guys, I never personally entered a pit before this Rockville, and I gotta say, there’s some room for improvement, despite my enjoyment.

I want to start by saying I don’t mind how chaotic the pit is and how aggressive it can be. All of that is fine to me and, after all, isn’t that the fun of it? At the same time, things could be a lot better for Rockville’s pits.

During Rise Against’s right-side pit, I repeatedly tried to exit the pit and wasn’t allowed (by other attendees) to leave until I almost passed out. I tried to exit the pit several times, walking slowly to the sides without my arms raised so people would know I’m just trying to chill, and everybody kept throwing or pushing me back into the pit.

If I hadn’t been knocked right on my tailbone the first day of Rockville, I could’ve handled this situation without issue—nevertheless, I found this behavior to be very rude and honestly dangerous. Next time, please chill out and try to account for people who are exhausted and need to take a step away; ask if someone wants to leave or stay in the pit. I really love and appreciate the energy, but the behavior of shoving people into the pit when they’re near-exhaustion isn’t safe. I really hope to see less of this next year.
