Looking for Nintendo Wii repair/replacement in Georgetown

My mom found my old Wii last Christmas. I tried to help her boot it up, but we needed an adapter to connect to a modern TV.

She finally got the needed adapter. I don't live locally, and she facetimed me today. The menu boots up, but the disk drive makes a grinding noise and it doesn't seem to recognize any disks.

If I was local I'd try to open and clean it, but I won't be nearby for a bit. Are there any people or businesses near her that can take a look and repair it? Or maybe even just a replacement Wii she could pick up (though there's a lot downloaded on mine, so I'd prefer to keep the original if possible)

What can you tell about this tree from the cross section?

This tree just came down, and I'm curious if you can tell why just from this info.

Community query: what to do with all the bots

Hello r/dumplings! Your friendly neighborhood mod is here to ask the community for thoughts on changes to combat the explosive bot problem we've been having here for about a month.

I have tried to be very light-handed on moderation here, keeping the community open to amateurs, professionals, and dumpling lovers of all ages. But lately we have been hit with almost hourly posts from bots. All accounts are under 30 days old with minimal karma, and they are stealing old content or generating it with AI.

I'd like to open the floor to the community on how to deal with it. Do we add new posting rules? Require posters to get mod approval before being allowed to post? Do we do nothing and just wait till I'm online to remove these posts and ban the bots? (I've been doing that last one for the last month, and it's tedious. I'm online every day, but not all day. Some posts stick around and get a lot of upvotes.) If you like the content, I could also just ignore it and keep the posts up, but only if y'all just enjoy the dead Internet that Reddit seems to be headed towards.

I'm also open to other suggestions! I'd like to make some changes here, but I want to make sure I get community input before doing anything.

Thanks everyone. I love all the humans on this sub 🫰

Edit: I'll keep this open for about a day or two to get opinions, and I'll likely make changes early in the week to match your opinions.
