My Breast Health Journey (32F) — Finally Some Good News

I'd like to share my story.

I'm a 32-year-old woman. When I was 24, I found a lump in my breast. I was very worried and went to the doctor. They did an ultrasound and a biopsy. It came back benign. Also, had small surgery to remove it. After that, I went for an ultrasound every year and everything always looked normal. I had a fluid-filled lump in my breast, but I was told it was nothing to worry about.

In September 2024, I gave birth to my baby girl via C-section. In October I had an ultrasound and everything looked normal. I should mention that I didn't breastfeed much because my milk supply was very low.

Then I missed my annual check-up the following year and that was my big mistake.

I started having really bad pain in my shoulder and back. My doctor said it was likely a posture issue from my desk job, so I started exercising, but nothing helped. Eventually it occurred to me that I should get my breasts checked.

On April 19th, I had an ultrasound and they found a complicated cyst alongside the fluid one. The complicated cyst measured 0.6 x 0.5 x 0.4 cm. They told me a mammogram and biopsy were required. I couldn't sleep, the doctor said it could be serious or it could be nothing.

I got a mammogram about a week later, but the hospital said they weren't satisfied with the results. On May 13th, they called me back for another mammogram and an additional ultrasound.

Then today, I got the call from my family doctor. She had happy news. She said it is benign and that no further biopsy was needed. I am so relieved and happy!

However, they've recommended a 6-month follow-up. They also said surgery is an option if I'm in pain, but the cause of my shoulder/back pain still hasn't been identified, so I'm not sure what to do next.
