Question about getting my scholarship reinstated
For a variety of reasons, I performed somewhat poorly my freshman year and got below a 3.0 gpa, causing my presidential scholarship to be terminated. Obv I want to get it reinstated, so I've gotta appeal. some parts of the process are unclear to me tho.
First of all, I've heard people say that when you're appealing for the first time, they're very lenient and pretty much always reinstate ur scholarship. this conflicts with the fine print of the presidential scholarship, which explains how you need to have significant proof of extremely extrenuating circumstances to have a chance of getting ur scholarship put back. What to believe?
If I had to explain why I did poorly academically, I'd say poor mental health for a variety of reasons- severe loneliness, feelings of depression(not claiming whether i have it or not cuz im not diagnosed, but i felt depressed), disliking my major, etc. I'm not sure if any of these are viewed as legitimate reasons by the terms and conditions of the scholarship, but they are my reasons, or rather my explanation.
Regardless if my reasons are "invalid" or not, I do have a clear plan to have a better next semester. i've changed my major to something i'm much more interested in and talked with professors in the field, i'm exploring new interests and hobbies this summer which is gonna introduce me to many new people at uvm next semester, and some other stuff im making progress on.
Im just not sure if this makes a convincing argument for the reinstatement of my scholarship, and if its worth it to try and appeal. what i've heard is pretty conflicting. please lmk what you all think. Thank you!
