Mexican Family Reunification Visa in UK - questions about apostilles, translations & foreign financial documents

Hi everyone,

My wife and I will soon be attending the Mexican Embassy in London for a Family Reunification visa, and I was hoping to hear from anyone who has recently gone through the process there.

A bit of background:

I’m a U.S. citizen and now hold a Mexican Temporary Residence Card.
My wife and I will be attending the London Embassy so she can apply for Temporary Residence through Family Reunification.
I’ve reviewed the Embassy’s requirements, but I have a couple of questions based on other people’s experiences.

Marriage certificate
Our marriage certificate is an international multilingual certificate (including English).
Did yours need to be translated into Spanish?
Was an electronic apostille (e-Apostille) accepted, or did the Embassy require a physical apostille?

Financial documents
My financial documents were originally submitted to a Mexican Consulate as part of my own Temporary Residence application, and the Consulate retained the originals. I’ll therefore be bringing notarized copies of the same supporting documents to London.
Did anyone have to apostille foreign bank statements or other financial documents?

My understanding is that apostilles are generally only issued for public or government documents (such as birth, marriage, or police certificates), rather than private documents like bank statements. If that’s correct, how did you prepare your financial documents for the London Embassy? Were notarized copies sufficient, or did they require anything else?

I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has completed the Family Reunification process through the London Embassy, especially if you’ve done it recently.
Thanks in advance!

Tijuana Canje

I was just approved for my Mexican Temporary Resident Visa and now I’m trying to complete the canje process before June 30. I have not entered Mexico yet (from SD)

My intended location is Tijuana, but I’ve heard mixed information about processing times. Some people have told me they were able to complete their canje the same day, while others said it took weeks.

For those who have done it recently:

Is same-day canje actually possible?

If so, was that with or without an appointment?

Does it depend on the specific INM office?

If my residence will be in Tijuana, can I complete the canje at another INM office elsewhere in Mexico if they have availability?

Has anyone successfully obtained the temporary resident card within a few days of entering Mexico?

I’m trying to get everything completed before June 30, so any recent experiences or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Lawyer is saying Tijuana appointments are two weeks out. My fear is entering Mexico and getting stamped. I need to travel overseas shortly and cannot leave once I enter.

Thank you!

Has Anyone Successfully Applied for a Mexican Temporary Resident Visa Outside Their Local Consulate District? (San Diego)

Here’s a Reddit post you could use in r/immigration, r/mexicoexpats, r/expats, or a Mexico residency group:
Has Anyone Successfully Applied for a Mexican Temporary Resident Visa Outside Their Local Consulate District?

I’m hoping someone here has experience with this.
I’ve been trying to get a Mexican Temporary Resident (TR) visa based on economic solvency from the San Diego consulate. For over a month I couldn’t even complete the appointment process because their portal repeatedly rejected my PDF uploads, despite complying with all the stated file size and format requirements. After numerous emails and a lot of back-and-forth, I finally managed to secure an appointment.

The problem is that the appointment I was given is June 30, and I now need to travel overseas next week due to an urgent family matter.

I went to the San Diego consulate in person and was told their next available appointments are sometime in July. I then tried booking in Los Angeles and actually obtained an appointment for Monday, but it was subsequently cancelled because they said I must apply within the consular district where I reside (San Diego).

I noticed that Calexico appears to have availability on June 22, but when I try to book, no actual appointment slots are displayed.

My situation is time-sensitive. My wife lives overseas and we’ve been separated by immigration and border issues for over a year. My plan is to obtain Temporary Residency through economic solvency and then later complete family reunification so we can finally live together in Mexico as I can work remotely.

My questions are:

Has anyone who lives in San Diego successfully applied through the Mexican Consulate in Calexico?

Can I simply drive to Calexico and request an appointment in person?

Has anyone had success getting an emergency appointment or being accommodated due to urgent travel?

Is there any other consulate in California, Arizona, Nevada, or elsewhere that might accept an application from someone residing in San Diego?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. My wife is currently unwell, and I need to leave overseas next week. At this point, I’m willing to drive several hours if there’s any realistic chance of getting this done before I leave.
Thank you.

Can I apply directly in Tijuana?
