I am looking to do my first downhill park next month and will go to Whistler this summer. I already have knee and elbow pads that I bought new. I still need to buy a chest/spine protector but have been holding off due to price. and nothing being on sale. I have seen some high quality chest protectors that are being sold second-hand online. Is it a bad idea to buy this way? Could the safety of one be compromised? (Like how I would never buy a helmet second-hand)

I am going to Whistler for the first time and want to be geared up with chest protector and elbow/knee pads. While looking online for chest protectors there are many that are listed for dirt bikes or motorcycles. Is there a difference between those kinds and ones that specifically say they are for mountain biking?
