Hey Omeda what's up with all the lay-offs? Please be transparent
- A.D.C (VFX Artist)
- Sadly, I’ve been affected by the recent layoffs at Omeda Studios, along with several talented colleagues. This is my last week at the studio, so I’m open to new adventures! 😎✨ I’m a Real-time VFX & Tech Artist with 5+ years of professional experience in the video game industry. I’ve had the opportunity to contribute to titles such as Predecessor, High on Life (1, 2, and DLC), Dakar Desert Rally, and more.
- C.P. (UI/UX)
- A new chapter begins. Following recent layoffs at Omeda Studios, I’m now actively looking for my next opportunity (and a fresh adventure). I’m a Senior UI/UX Designer with 8+ years of experience in the games industry, specialising in crafting intuitive, player-focused experiences across a wide range of genres. From UI art and detailed wireframes to iconography and full interface systems: I’m your girl when it comes to making things clear, playable, and a little bit delightful.
- L.S. (Build Eng)
- Due to recent layoffs at Omeda Studios, I'm searching for a new role. I'm a Build Engineer with 6 years of professional experience(10 years total in GameDev) with expertise in Unreal Engine. I can make your Jenkins/TeamCity/Horde or any other CI/CD system run smoothly like a well-oiled machine. I will also make sure that what can be automated will be automated!
- A.T (UI/UX)
- Time to turn the page on this chapter of my career! Unfortunately, I was part of the recent lay offs at Omeda Studios last week. While I wasn't there very long, I feel like I achieved so much not only in design projects but in my personal development as well. I had the pleasure of working with some of the best designers I have ever encountered, and I will truly miss the collaboration and comradery.
- J.C (UI/UX)
- Sadly I have been affected by the recent lay offs at Omeda Studios. It's definitely a hard one for me to write about, after working on my favourite game for more than 4 years and being involved in the project for an additional ~3 years prior to being hired, but It has been an amazing journey and has been a true blessing to have been given the opportunity to work on Predecessor and to be able to collaborate with all the amazing people who have worked on this special project
- R.L. (Material Artist)
- So, I was recently made redundant at Omeda Studios, along with several talented colleagues. While it’s not the news I had hoped to share, I’m now actively exploring new opportunities. I’m looking for roles as a Senior Materials/Texture Artist or Technical Artist specialized in shader development.
- C.M (Animator)
- Hate to say it but, I have also been affected by mass layoffs from Omeda Studios. I had a wonderful time there as an Animation Outsource Artist where I managed the animations made and polished by our amazing outsourcers. I'm gonna really miss all the insanely talented people there. It's a shame but I'm on to the next chapter!
Let's talk about this Omeda, you might be restructuring, revamping or something but we deserve to know if I am about to spend platinum on skins and battlepasses.
All this is from about a month ago and easily findable on LinkedIn.
EDIT:
Guys, the goal of this post is not my "entitlement" to know about inner-workings of the company and I understand that spending money on the game does not give me the right to know structural or financial changes (gains/loses), I am simply asking for a little more transparency because when you have several devs write 'due to mass lay-offs' in Omeda (who is a full-remote indie company) it begs the question who are you laying-off due to redundancy when the people that you are laying off are in charge of some of the features that we are missing (UI/UX, animations etc.) All the information I found is purely as I was updating my LinkedIn profile and literally typed "Omeda Studios" all of the recent posts, mentions are Devs being laid-off (check yourself).
And if you say 'if you don't believe in the future of the game, just vote with your wallet'; that's true but it's also a secure way of seeing this game downfall - all I am asking is transparency and reassurance that the studio is healthy to continue making Predecessor. Thats all.
