Curious about the Premium Economy seats for the SEA-LHR flight

Anyone fly the SEA to LHR? Curious to know what the premium seats are like. With BA, AA, and Delta, they have premium econ so I can do a 2-4-2. I like the 2 seats width and leg room. From the Alaska site, it only looks like a 4" leg room perk, but there's a 3-4-3 config.

Any insight on the flight and how their prem compares to others?

Is having status with Alaska worth it anymore?

I am platinum and have over a million miles and usually fly Alaska or One World exclusively. However, lately I find that Alaska's pricing it way higher and I can get better pricing with AA or BA (when going overseas). I've got a bunch of trips coming up and on all the flights Alaska was at least 30% more.

I was hoping to take their flight to London, flying premium economy, but the prices (all of One World options) were at least $1200 more than Virgin or Delta.

I like Alaska but not really sure where they're competitive. It's been a while since I've gotten a first class upgrade on a flight. And often I have to look at flights on American and Delta. And Delta gives better options to modify my connecting cities.

Recent example, I had to book at flight to Portland ME:

  • Alaska: $859, $3797 (first) 9h29m, one connection option
  • American: $616m $2030 (first) 8h37m, multiple options
  • Delta: $679, $1429 (first), 7h41m, flexible connection options

I know Portland, ME is a bit of an outlier. But today I was looking at booking multiple flights to London, Toronto, Orlando, Portland, and a couple of others. In none of the flights was Alaska the better price.

Like I said, I am platinum and usually fly Alaska exclusively, but I'm not really sure where there's real value doing that anymore. Was wondering what others think about this.
