Dark brown growth coming out of my floor?
Hi, last night I noticed a dark brown growth beneath my bed (pic 1) which I thought was a large bug at first. It appears to be a fungus or mold of some type. For context, I live in a basement apartment in Boston. It doesn’t typically feel too humid and doesn’t smell musty, but I run a window AC unit almost all summer.
After seeing this, I looked around more and saw another smaller growth (pic 2) by a baseboard about 3 feet away.
On the other side of this wall is the building’s mechanical room. I’m assuming there was a slow leak that’s coming through the shared wall- photo 3 shows the moisture I then discovered. This is beneath my heater which hasn’t been run in about 5 months. There must be a lot of water underneath these floors.
Any thoughts on what type of growth this is? I’m not going to touch it and I’ve notified property management, but no response yet.
