Thank you so much to everyone who may have voted for me. I love slime molds and think they are so important to share to the world.

I now need to plan to find slimes in Guyana! If you have any tips then please let me know!

Anyone know what this is??

First time seeing this in my tank. Just want to make sure it’s not harmful!

Update: looks like this is “slime mold” and it’s very sought after! Proud to home this guy. I will add updated in the comments for those interested!

Slime mold ID request

Hi folks, I’ve been growing orchids for many years, and recently while looking at the roots, I found these round structures suspended on stalks, which I believe are slime mold fruiting bodies. I tried as best as I could to get a clear picture, hopefully these are clear enough.

These orchids are native to Japan and Korea, and are grown in New Zealand sphagnum moss. They are watered thoroughly with reverse osmosis, and allowed to dry completely before watering again. I live in a very humid/cool microclimate near the San Diego coast. Any ideas where this slime mold may have come from, it’s ID, or if it’s even a slime mold?

Thanks in advance :)

Discovered a slime mold? Such a pretty color!

I found this stuff in my mulch bed (South Carolina, USA)- and thought it was such a pretty color but had no clue what it was. After some research, it looks most like immature wolf's milk? Does everyone think that's correct? When I popped one, it was mostly liquid inside of the same coral color. Just thought I'd share for anyone who may be interested in observing as well! -- p.s.: obligated to say that this is my first post on reddit, sorry for any mistakes.

Can anyone ID this?

Growing on a dead tree in South Central Alaska

Had a slight fermented-fruit smell. Not necessarily unpleasant though.

And a tongue-like texture?

Help me solve a debate (read caption)

Someone posted this in a terrarium group and I am convinced it’s some sort of slime mold, but alllllll the other people are saying it’s “rust”. Now I could be wrong, I’m no expert in molds. But this just doesn’t look like a harmful mold to me. It’s literally doing zero damage to the surfaces and is even on the aerial roots. This person in particular is arguing with my slime mold diagnosis and I want to be right hahaha. Seriously though, even if I got the wrong ID, tell me this isn’t “rust”.

Aquarium slime mold

Just acquired this beauty from the aquarium at work - it appears to be feeding off of plant mulm/detritus

Please tell me everything I need to know for it to thrive- what type is it? Right now I’m planning on putting it in an established shrimp tank, but can’t find much info on keeping them - do I need to be concerned about shrimp eating it? Is there any particular way I should acclimate it to the tank?

Is this some type of slime mold?

I found this odd looking spot on My Aunts Mulch. Im not sure what kind of Mulch it is, But This is in TX and its often very hot here, and we got quite a bit if rain. Ive never seen anything like this, and Im anxious that It could potentially be harmful to our dogs.

My dog vomit slime mold (I call him Ralph)

I didn’t realize there would be so many spores! This was about the fifth time I had hit it with water.

how do i get rid of this malicious black goo taking over my terrarium???

this lumpy black thing has been spreading across my terrarium and killing my mosses and liverworts. i've been trying to give my terrarium more air so it dries out but that's not really stopping it. what should i do? can i treat it with alcohol without harming the plants or springtails?

Weird gooey yellow blob

This appeared on the patio stones over night. A little smaller than a ping pong ball. Looks like expanding foam insulation. Consistency like gooey marshmallow. Did not taste. I’m in western Washington.
