Career in mining

Currently a driller offsider earning 520 a day. Been doing it about a year and im guessing I could probably work my way up to drilling with this company in another 3ish years. Curious to hear other people’s opinions, should I stay in surface diamond drilling or pivot into another job/industry for example nipper, go to uni and be a geo, etc. I hear a lot of people say in my company we are super underpaid and that diamond drilling is a bad industry and to only use it as a stepping stone so im wondering why and if so where/how to jump to it.

ANZ bank

Hey everyone! Have just bought a house in Australia as a first home owner and went with ANZ due to them having the lowest fees and interest rates, im looking to keep all of my money in my offset account to maximise its potential. I’ve always been with commbank but I never would’ve thought ANZ would be so behind the times. The app only has very basic details in regards to spend tracking and other things and doesn’t even send notifications when you get paid etc unless you set it up through mobile phone text messages and even then it doesn’t really work properly. ANZ plus is a different version but doesn’t really integrate properly with ANZ accounts. I don’t know I didn’t think for such a big bank they would be so underdeveloped. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions? Are their people that feel similarly about it?

Contractor to BHP

If I apply for a job with BHP on seek is there a chance they hire me if I already work under them as a contractor? Do they hire from contractors or not like hiring from them? Is there a chance they would contact people I work with and tell them I’m applying?
Working for them would be the goal but I’m not sure if they like hiring people that already work for them through seek

Side job during week off.

I’m looking for some sort of side hustle to do during my week off on a 2/1 roster. Preferably something that can still earn money while I’m away. Just curious what others do to get ahead and earn extra cash, use it as a tax write off and replace the mining income eventually.

Currently 20 years old working FIFO in Perth on a 2/1 roster. 130k pa and currently 40k saved up. Issue is that it is a dead end difficult job with low progression opportunity and to maintain this level of income I will have to continue working FIFO and only ever really earning 180k max. How would you suggest breaking free from the mines and transitioning into a role that pays more back at home.
