For those who’ve done a renovation or fit-out in Dubai (whether on your own place or an investment property), how did the snagging side go? Curious specifically about how you tracked defects and made sure the contractor actually fixed them before final payment.

Did you do it on a spreadsheet, photos in WhatsApp, walking round with a clipboard, or something else? And how much of a faff was it getting things actually closed out rather than just promised?

Asking because I keep hearing it’s one of the more painful parts of any reno here and I’m trying to get a real picture of how people deal with it.

Genuine question for site managers and contractors on here. How are you currently dealing with snag lists on refurbishment jobs?

Keep hearing different things from different people. Some are still on paper, some are doing WhatsApp groups and a few mentioned dedicated apps but didn’t seem too impressed.

What’s actually working for you, and what’s still a pain in the arse? Specifically curious about how you keep track of defects across different trades, how you get snags back to the subbies and chase them, and whether anything you’ve tried has genuinely saved time or just added more admin.

Reason I’m asking: I’m a software engineer looking at building something in this space with someone in the industry, and I’d rather hear what’s actually broken from people doing the work than guess at it. Not pitching anything, just trying to figure out if it’s worth building or if existing kit is good enough.
