Matsubara Blue #2 bunka- $140 shipped (now $125)

I picked this up as a santoku with a few small chips in the center, less than 1mm. The tip was reprofiled into a bunka shape to benefit the flatter profile. I also installed an upgraded ebony and buffalo horn handle to match the blade’s style. Matsubaras have a fantastic grind with knuckle clearance and the tip is optimal for detail work.

Hyde Handmade Petty- $100 shipped (now $90)

Hyde is a western maker based out of Baltimore with a unique style. The handles are sculpted and one of the most comfortable I’ve come across, the blade is also forged with a peak distal taper. Most pettys are uncomfortable to use on a board but the blade shape includes room for knuckle clearance on the heel. Hyde knives all vary between batches and this is the closest link I can find. The tip has a blemish with a wider bevel and the price has been adjusted accordingly.

Hey, I have an intro bundle for someone that’s getting started or interested in sharpening!

The Iridium was intended as a beater but I’ve just been using my pocket fixie instead. I opened it, tested the edge on paper, and stored it. First owner, factory edge, no carry. It was in a clamshell so no box. The centering is a hair to the right but I haven’t disassembled, it’s easy to tune.

The Shapton Seven stone is approximately a 1000 grit, very nice for a one and done. I attached a silicon grip mat to the back and it’s easy to set up anywhere without a holder. Shaptons are splash and go, no soaking needed. First owner, used less than five times to quickly hone while catering. I’ll include the carry pouch I kept it in with the box.

Hi, I have a Kagekiyo white #2 210mm (true 200) petty that I’m on the fence about. I like it but the urushi handle isn’t my favorite. I added a coffee patina to improve corrosion resistance, never sharpened, stropped twice, used less than ten times. There’s a few small dents on the handle that I tried to show in the pictures.

I’m open to 180mm wa handles gyutos and pettys, I can sell in a few days if no trades pop up.

The whetstone is an idea I had while I was an offsite caterer. It’s an 11.5 micron (approximately 1600 grit) stone for honing on the fly, with a silicon grip mat attached for grip on most surfaces. No holder needed and it fits in most knife rolls. The stone is almost brand new and comes with a pouch for knife roll storage.

Feel free to offer any accessories if interested, I haven’t used it in a while and wanted to put it up for someone who likes it.

I wanted to see if anyone is interested in trades for these, I’m open to sell as well. A Shindo kiritsuke, or a 210mm knife is my main interest. Cash can go either way. I’ll hear out trades for a day before selling.

Hatsukokoro Nakagawa 180mm (165mm edge length) santoku- $240 shipped

I love this knife for smaller tasks but gravitate towards larger knives. I picked it up as a way to try Nakawaga’s work at a reasonable price and it’s the best cutter I’ve ever experienced, whisper thin chives. This line is mild steel clad and feels less reactive than iron but still patinas. I didn’t like the stabilized maple handle at first but it grew on me, there’s a spot on the back with a ring of dye.

The knife has a scratch but is in otherwise good condition. I gave it a few passes on a Shapton 1000 once. Comes with the box.

Yoshihiro Goh AS 150mm petty- $160 shipped

The fit, finish, and slight convex grind are surprisingly good at this price point. The AS steel built up a very stable patina after a month, even after citrus supremes. It’s been sharpened once on a Shapton 1000. Box and saya are included.
