The name Colt has two primary origins. As a standalone name, It derives from the Old English/Middle English word "colt" (which refers to a young male horse), thus giving Colt the meaning "young male horse", giving it a Wild West or athletic vibe.

If Colt is used as a shortform of Colton, it means "Cola's town" or "coal town". Colton derives the Old English personal name Cola (which itself derives from the Old English word "col", meaning "coal" or "charcoal") combined with "tūn" (meaning "town" or "settlement")

Seen alot of people assume Fievel/Feivel and Philip/Phillip are related. This is because many Jewish people with "Feivel" as a name chose "Philip" or "Phillip" as an English equivalent when immigrating to English speaking countries. This association also happens because of the film "An American Tail", where the mouse Fievel is named after Steven Spielburg's grandfather (whose name was Philip but had Feivel/Fievel as his Yiddish name) and he was voiced by a little kid named Phillip Glasser. But I notice their meanings are actually different (Feivel/Fievel means "bright one" and Philip/Phillip means "lover of horses"). Fievel's meaning is closer to names like Robert/Robin and Phoebus/Phoebe, while Phillip's meaning is closer to names like Marshall and Colter/Colt.
