52F in new romance with 55M with cat allergy
I’m a ‘52F’ dating a ‘55M’. We met online about a month ago and when we started texting, I said by the way, I have a cat ‘9M’. He replied “I love cats.” He’s been to my apartment twice. The first time was just for about 30 minutes and the second time he stayed for about three hours. I noticed that he was getting congested. He nonchalantly says “by the way I have some bad news. I’m allergic to your cat”. I said you’re allergic to my cat or all cats? He said I’m allergic to all cats.
Now I’ve started to like him and I’m not sure if I can be in a relationship with someone who is allergic. I love cats and I plan on having them for the rest of my life.
I feel like he should have been transparent about his allergy. For example he has a dog. If I was allergic to dogs I would have told him so that he knows that I can’t be around the dog.
Perhaps the allergy is not bad? But I noticed he was sniffling after one hour. I will talk to him about this, but I’m wondering what peoples thoughts are, as I don’t have allergies and I don’t understand how complicated this could be.
