UTI or blockage in cat?
Hi all! I have a 6 year old spayed cat that I had to take to the emergency vet last night for urinating straight blood and straining to pee. The vet was unable to get a urine sample because her bladder was small and pretty much empty, so they are treating it as a UTI w/ amoxicillin and gabapentin for pain, as they don’t believe she is blocked. I already have her on Hills C/D due to a male cat I have that was blocked a few years ago.
It hasn’t been 24 hours since the visit yet, but I’m getting really worried because she’s still straining to pee, and when she does, it’s like a pea-sized amount that is coming out. She’s pretty much slept under the couch all day, but I chalked that up to the gabapentin knocking her out. My question is, am I being too paranoid, or should I see about taking her back in just for the sheer fact that she is eating/drinking but not really able to use the bathroom? Any help or guidance is appreciated. I don’t want to be super paranoid and spend money I don’t need to, but I’m also afraid if I don’t, it could be worse than we thought.
