I need advice on my case

Hello,

I'm looking for general information, opinions, and a strategy on the next steps regarding my ongoing employment matter in Alberta. Im currently almost 20,000 in debt, just trying to survive, and believe that my previous employer should pay for what he's done.

The Situation:

  • Official Rulings: I went through multiple government channels and have three matching, official rulings in my favour. This includes a willful defiance of the Alberta Employment Standards Order, along with separate, matching rulings from both the CRA and EI confirming the employer's misconduct.
  • Employer Actions: The employer committed illegal wage/vacation theft and falsified my ROE. Despite three separate federal and provincial bodies ruling against them, they are completely ignoring the orders.
  • Financial & Corporate Reality: The company is currently actively in third-party collections for other debts. Because of a year-long "starve out" by the employer, I was forced to take out over 20 survival loans (including family debt, student loans, and lines of credit) to get by, leaving me completely financially damaged.

The Claim Outline ($100,000 Total):
I have structured my theoretical total legal claim into the following categories based on the actual impacts:

  1. Punitive Damages (~$48,400): For the ROE falsification, wage theft, and willful defiance of multiple government orders.
  2. Aggravated Damages ($30,000): For the mental distress and humiliation of the year-long starvation.
  3. Special Damages (~$19,100): To seek full reimbursement for the verified survival debt and accrued bank interest.
  4. Inconvenience Award ($2,500): For the administrative hassle of dealing with collections and government agencies.

My Questions for the Community:

  1. I strictly need a lawyer who can take this on a contingency-fee basis, given my financial situation. Since private employment law firms are turning this down because the company is in collections, how can I find a firm willing to pursue this, or is the case functionally uncollectible?

Thank you for any insights.
