Picked up a new navy alligator strap for my Santos earlier this year and thought I’d share some details, since Cartier doesn’t seem to publish much information about their strap options.

Alligator straps available in-store are £300. If you want something that isn’t in stock, you can choose the leather colour and stitching, and the price is £390. I believe the one I got is the same strap that comes with the blue-dial Santos, though I could be wrong. For custom orders, I was told the wait can be up to 12 weeks. I’m not sure about pricing for the calfskin straps.

Cartier has shorter strap lengths available if the standard size doesn’t fit. I have a 6.25-inch wrist, and the shorter 100 x 80 mm strap fits me perfectly.

Your AD should also have leather and stitching samples available, so you can see the options in person if you’re thinking about customising a strap.
