The Answer to Job Archetype

Jungs “Answer to Job” postulates Job exhibited moral superiority to Yahweh by humbly capitulating to his nonsensical tirade of power & ability. In a way, Job acts as a trickster, realizing a moral superiority but keeping it secret. If we view an archetype as a pattern of behavior, this event of two parties, one w/ an overwhelming power over the other, w/ the weaker quietly & secretly winning over, then the showdown b/t Yahweh & Job is an archetypal pattern we can realize in reality & not just mythologically. How many times has an employee submitted to a superior as to preserve their job? Has a wife said “honey you’re right” knowing very well her husband is wrong? Has a child given into their parents overwhelming demands to preserve the peace? This pattern plays out constantly in an earthly manner.

Was thinking of the Mandaeans and it moved me to think of different approaches to God and ultimately of course Jung’s approach.

The Mandaeans are an ancient John the Baptist cult that is Mayhaps the last real gnostic religious groups. You are born into this religion you can’t join it.

They are ascetics like John and focus on constant baptism rituals emphasizing a duality of spirit and matter with the spirit being the superior.

Jesus on the other hand dined with sinners, drank wine, broke sabbath constantly. While never diminishing the spirit he also embraced the human experience.

It’s obvious what route Jung went. Wife, children, tobacco, drinks, mistresses.

Mythic and historic Jesus was so cool because he was one of us.

Live a little 😎

So just a little interesting thing i realized.

Jung presented his ideologies largely through a scientific lens. This was (and still is) the digestible format for the first world masses. Those who go deeper into Jung realize that really what he was getting it, was the nature of God and man’s divine mission.

Let’s expand this to gospel authors, church fathers and Christian theologians. They too wished to present their ideas to the masses, and had to do it in a digestible format, which is on the surface , some overly simple miraculous phenomena such as the Eucharist.

My point being no wonder Jung circled back and back to Christianity. He was gnostic in the true sense of the word but never shit on canon.

What is the general explanation for going a significant time period without “strong” dreams? By this I mean we always have atleast vague images, but I’m speaking of dreams where longer sequences and images can be recalled.

It happens to me sometimes, but even more so to a friend of mine. He works a really stressful job. My life is more a relaxed style.
