Bought this pair of funny wooden creatures from a London charity shop and am a tad puzzled!
Did a google reverse search and found a few Tibetan hand-carved leopards:

The thing is, they’ve clearly had a DIY makeover in their lifetime, and the paint is starting to flake away. Underneath they have either a black or brown, chalky paint - but the patterns (stars/circles) seem a bit haphazard. Have we uncovered another makeover? Where do they come from? Could they have been plain wood previously? What are they‽ How should I restore them?
So many questions… that only the power of Reddit can solve! 💪
Any help would be appreciated :)
