A case when hoping to transfer is warranted?

I have a low GPA (3.4) and a good LSAT (170), not URM. I applied in late jan/early feb with a 165 and got WLed at 4 t20s (including a t6). I believe my softs and writing carried A LOT as my stats and application timing was not optimal. I got my 170 in during my June retake. A day after my June score release, I got of a t30 waitlist.

I would be VERY happy to graduate from my t30, but I also obviously would have loved to have gotten into t14.

So i have 2 options: I go with my t30. IF (big IF) I am at the top of my class I will shoot my shot and apply to transfer.

OR I can reapply with my 3.4, 170, and early application. Unfortunately I've used all my LSAT attempts so the 170 is set.

My worry is if I reapply, I will get the exact same t30 results. Maybe some more t14 waitlists, but with both my stats below median I cant bank on any As. I don't want to reapply if my results will be about the same.

I know people say don't go in hoping to transfer, but looking at the LSD data I think my cycle exceeded my expectations this year, and if I R&R I don't see it getting any better.

What would you do?

Any insights on transfer As at t6?

I know grades are undeniably the most important thing but I’ve been seeing Rs at Harvard, Columbia, etc for people who are at the tops of their 1L class. What else should people be focusing on outside of grades? Are people beefing up their resumes during 1L?
