विभागले सातै प्रदेशका भौतिक पूर्वाधार तथा यातायात मन्त्रालयहरू र देशभरका स्थानीय तहहरूलाई पत्राचार गर्दै अर्को सूचना जारी नभएसम्मका लागि नयाँ दर्ता रोक्न निर्देशन दिएको हो ।

सार्वजनिक यातायातको वैज्ञानिक व्यवस्थापन हुन नसकेको, वायु प्रदूषण अत्यधिक बढेको, सवारीको चाप र ट्राफिक जामका कारण आवागमनमा कठिनाइ उत्पन्न भएको भन्दै विभागले यस्तो निर्णय लिएको जनाएको छ ।

साथै, इन्धनको बढ्दो मूल्यका कारण सार्वजनिक यातायात क्षेत्रमा परेको असहजतालाई सम्बोधन गर्न र यातायात क्षेत्रलाई व्यवस्थित बनाउन यो कदम चालिएको पत्रमा उल्लेख छ ।

सवारी तथा यातायात व्यवस्था ऐन, २०४९ को दफा २४ को उपदफा ९३० मा रहेको प्रावधानलाई टेकेर विभागले यो निर्णय गरेको हो। उक्त ऐनले वातावरण प्रदूषण, सवारी चाप र सडकको स्थितिलाई हेरेर सार्वजनिक हितका लागि कुनै पनि सवारीको दर्ता रोक्का गर्ने अधिकार विभागलाई दिएको छ ।

विभागका अनुसार यो निर्णय विद्युतीय (इलेक्ट्रिक) सार्वजनिक सवारी साधनहरूको हकमा पनि लागू हुनेछ। विभागका निर्देशक मणिराम भुसालद्वारा जारी गरिएको उक्त पत्रमा अर्को सूचना नभएसम्मका लागि नयाँ सार्वजनिक सवारी साधनको दर्ता नगर्न र नगराउन अनुरोध गरिएको छ ।

यस निर्णयसँगै अब नयाँ सार्वजनिक बस, माइक्रोबस वा अन्य सार्वजनिक साधनहरू दर्ता गर्ने प्रक्रिया केही समयका लागि रोकिने भएको छ।
