First sourdough starter on heatmat
Hey 👋, I need some opinions on my art up. Currently it's on the feeding stage, day 6, 100g starter, 50g flour, 50g wholemeal, 100g water, it's quite cold in my house at peak today it was 18c so I have a heat mat. The heatmat is elevated by a wire rack, the bench underneath got hot, and the starter would develop like a crust on the inside of the jar at the bottom where it sits on the mat, so it's not elevated by a pot hoping to just take in the ambient temp. The mat is set for 25c Think that would work? Or should I just leave it on the table with no wire rack or pot, am I over thinking it? It's getting to about 2-3c at night at the moment so it needs something to heat it.
