Beef stew, chicken noodle soup, salad with vinaigrette, sticky rice(I think), a bread roll, yoghurt and a chocolate dessert with coconut flakes.

Beef stew, chicken noodle soup, salad with vinaigrette, sticky rice(I think), a bread roll, yoghurt and a chocolate dessert with coconut flakes.
Location: Transitional care unit, St James
Meal: lemon chicken, rice & green beans!
It was chicken thigh, and the sauce wasn't too sweet, which was very surprising. The beans were actually pretty good 👍
This is a "sub acute" unit. So not as "hospital" as a generic psych ward. There's total 40 beds. On site kitchen, served individually when you enter the dining room,
Roast lamb in gravy, roast veg and peas
Chicken congee
Bread
Sticky date pudding
Ice cream
OJ
The gravy was a little runny, but overall it tasted decent, the pumpkin and root veg had some herby seasoning which was nice, the congee is pretty good but the standout is the sticky date pudding with custard! I've been here almost 4 weeks now and the deserts are always really good.
7/10
My first meal in 4 days, cold and they had run out of apple juice 👎
Not even sure what the brown stuff is lol
Breakfast: fruit cup, yogurt, yogurt parfait, bagel with cream cheese, 4 hb eggs, 2 sausages, breakfast potatoes
Lunch: chicken Caesar, bread roll, chicken, broccoli, sweet potatoes
Dinner: tator tots, avacado, bread, salad, carrots, kale, turkey burger
Corn flakes: 6-6.5/10, with milk and sugar packet. Bread: 4/10. I miss my brown whole grain bread from home…..
Orange Juice: 7/10.
Scrambled Eggs: 4.5/10. Disappointed it’s not egg salad.
Pretty standard breaky at a public hospital in Melbourne. The hospital doesn't do toast, only bread, but overall it's pretty good. Also got a surprise extra cookie and some fancy herbal tea as its NAIDOC week (An annual week that celebrates the achievements, culture and history of Aboriginal and Torres strait Islander people)
Breakfast: 4 hb eggs, 2 sausages, yogurt, bagel with cream cheese, fruit cup, 2 Cheerios, potatoes
Lunch: chicken noodle soup, bread roll, chicken Caesar, grilled cheese, sweet potatoes, broccoli
Dinner: bread roll, avacado, salad, tator tots, kale, carrots, 2x chicken breast
Potatoes were kinda chewy for some reason, carrots were okay, chicken parmi was very bland but filling. Fav part about this was the apple juice haha. Panna cotta and the veggie sandwich were alright. Overall, not the best meal for someone going through a mental health crisis haha.
I received an invitation to the annual Cancer Survivors’ Day at the USZ, Zurich, Switzerland:
“Cancer survivors prove that every new day is a new chance at life. We would like to invite you, as a cancer survivor, to spend an afternoon with us together with your family and friends: featuring interesting talks, workshops, networking opportunities, information stands and a panel discussion.”
It was a fantastic event, with around 300 patients taking part.
Buffet: 10/10! (in the photo, it was still being set up)
Dinner - Minestrone Soup, Cottage Pie & Carrots, Vanilla Custard. 8/10
First meal after moving from Intensive Care Unit to Level 5 Ward.
Meal looked below average to say the least but it was hot and delicious. I was so hungry.
First meal post a 48 hour labour. I am fairly certain it was a beef stew, but unsure on the protein. 1 point for the sad carrots but the rest was genuinely inedible.
Here is my dinner from earlier in the year. We had a longer hospital stay than usual and ended up being there for New Years Eve so this dinner was more special than the others during my stay, but the food was good in general. Here is steak wrapped in bacon on a bed of mash potato, side of asparagus, minestrone soup, side salad, bread rolls and a cheese plate. Oh and a bottle of wine! I ordered the cheese plate almost every night with the bread rolls which were super fresh and crunchy, they were the highlight every day.
Edit to add: I actually ended up needing to stay at both a public and private hospital when I gave birth (long traumatic birth story yada yada yada) but public had more facilities for high risk birth. Just wanted to say that the staff were amazing at both hospitals. The food at private was obviously better but there wasn't a difference in the care given and if I had to have a baby again (definitely not) I would probably go public because it's bloody expensive!
The wine was only given to patients that one night because it was New Years Eve and my husband drank it because I still felt like crap.

Beef rigatoni
Garden veggies.
Garlic bread
Blueberry cheesecake.
This was straight after i gave birth and very hearty so it was welcomed! Couple of points off as the root veg was odd and I was hoping for some greens - but beggars can’t be choosers and it was very nice!
Breakfast: 4 hb eggs, potatoes, 2 sausages, cereal, French toast, yogurt, yogurt parfait
Lunch: avocado, bread roll, chicken, sweet potatoes, broccoli
Dinner: bread roll, salad, kale, carrots, chicken, macncheese
Much anticipated, nice flavour but ultimately too dry even with tinned fruit added.
Steak and ale pie, mash, peas and gravy. Tomato and roasted pepper soup. Milled rice pudding for desert. 7/10
