First impressions on the Geeboon TC22 + SDC02 Dock
Hello !
I just received Geeboon TC22 with T210 kit and SDC02 stand.
I don't see a lot of review and I want to share my first impressions with you.
To give you some context, I live in France. The whole package cost me €100 in total—€80 for the kit and €20 for shipping. It took a week for the package to arrive from China. Although the delivery time is reasonable for an international shipment, the €20 shipping fee still seems a bit high to me. Here’s my honest review before I start soldering with this equipment.
The first thing that struck me was the unpleasant smell of cheap plastic. It’s so strong, in fact, that the smell lingers on my fingers after holding the T210 handle. I hope this smell goes away over time, because it's pretty unpleasant and makes me feel nauseous.
In terms of build quality, the charging station is surprisingly lightweight but has a nice finish; the screen works perfectly, as do the buttons; the stand is also well-made; and the cleaning spiral seems to be of good quality since it isn’t magnetized (I read on this subreddit that if it were, that would mean it wasn’t a real cleaning spiral).
One big positive point: the seller included a compatible European plug.
The cables (power and handle) seem thin and rather fragile. Unlike what I’ve seen on other stations, I doubt these cables are heat-resistant, so I’ll have to be very careful not to accidentally touch them with the hot iron.
I also encountered an issue with the connection clip on the base. The clip’s locking mechanism was stuck, which means I can’t securely lock the cable into the station, that's annoying and I'm a little worried about the risks (fire) that might be involved. On the bright side, the clip on the T210 handle itself works perfectly.
When it comes to heating and performance during my dry run, this thing is fast. It took literally 4 seconds to jump from 100°C to 480°C, so the thermal performance of the T210 system seems incredible. Conversely, while it heats up like a rocket, it takes a long time to cool down once placed on the dock in sleep mode and that has its pros and cons.
Even though I haven't done any soldering yet, and despite the issues I've encountered, I'm still happy with my purchase, and for now, I recommend this station.
