just want to share my experience this month as a jobseeker

applied for a role at a company X few weeks prior and got contacted for a screening 1st week of this month. they informed that there will be 2 rounds total, 1 physical and 1 virtual.

same day of the screening they contacted me for the 1st round - physical. i travel from state A to state B for this interview (which they know of, btw. 1st round would be physical and 2nd would be virtual).

OK, wonderful. 1st round ends. A few days later they call me back for the 2nd round. This time recruiter says it will be physical again. I'm abit unhappy but I don't express this at all, and I really want the job, so I say no problem. I go back to the state again. I take 2 days of leave total just to attend this interview. (which they also know of).

just to share, i worked at company X's rival, company Y last year, at the same role. i did not shit talk them, i did not say anything remotely negative about my experience at company Y. i only answered the questions they had and never said anything incriminating.

During the 2nd round, the HM asks me how long it took me to get there. I said well I did travel from State A yesterday to attend the interview. Basically there was a miscomm and HM didn't know the 1st round was already physical.

No prob. Anyways the same day of the 2nd round, they contact me and say they want to reach out to my references. I say sure, no problem. nothing from them until today, via an automated email, voila a rejection :') i mean at least a personal email might have hurt abit less.

disappointed AF, has happened two times now (travelling back and forth to attend interviews and in the end getting rejected). I'm losing my will to live & continue searching tbh hehe
