I’ve mostly used manual treadmills at the gym, so I’m used to controlling the pace myself and I liked that aspect from an effort point of view.

Now I’m considering adding some movement during long desk hours (standing desk setup), and I’m not sure how that translates in terms of ergonomics.

My concern is whether a manual option would require too much constant effort and make it harder to maintain posture or focus while typing, vs an electric walking pad where the pace is consistent.

From an ergonomics perspective, is one generally better for under-desk use in terms of posture, joint stress, and long-term comfort?

For reference, I’ve looked into some manual options like AssaultRunner-style treadmills, and for electric, something like the Merach W20 seems to fit my budget, just trying to figure out what makes more sense in practice.

Would appreciate insights from anyone who’s tried both or has experience with active workstations.
