Need tips to nail my chair spin
So next Sunday will be my 4th pole class which completes a month of me getting into pole, and its been such a blast! I can't lie, I'm still very insecure in my body and movements but it's getting better. I already got down my climb to maybe about 75%, the rest is just fine tuning my technique but one move I'm really struggling with is the chair spin, even though its supposed to be a beginner move, its super difficult for me, and I really want to nail it since its a foundation for a lot of other moves I want to learn.
I put my inside hand high up, outside hand at belly button length maybe, pull with the inside hand and push with the outside hand, the usual technique but when I lift my feet off the ground, I just fall like a duck and I'm hanging on the pole by my inside hand.
My instructor told me its because I'm trying to use my arms/biceps for this when I need to be using my shoulders/back and I watched a few videos on the matter and last week I managed to do it for a SPLIT second before falling again.
Does anyone have any tips on how to engage my shoulders/back more? How do I get it down? I wanna start doing leg flares and the fancy stuff, I'm just so excited but don't wanna rush things and get injured or anything.
