Another Dumb Argument (doodle/practice)

Another Dumb Argument (doodle/practice)

Realized I hadn’t actually tried coloring anything with fur with Procreate yet, so I drew this bad drawing of an old wallaby-space-captain character getting into a stupid, possibly drunken argument, with my D&D character Danger Noodles. Guessing she‘s about to make him roll initiative for getting in her face.

(It’s been way too long since I drew this guy and it shows. Picked him because “canonically“ he’s not supposed to be much taller than a kobold, somewhere around four foot six standing straight up? edit: time-lapse. Don’t bother )

Kob-oldskool Media (Watercolor practice)

That same sketch (last time, I swear) of my sword-wielding kobold D&D character, colored with a real life old-fashioned watercolor set. (The finished piece also incorporates acrylic highlights, both brushed and Posca pens, and Micron inking.) The less saturated version is what it looked like after the first “coat”; coming back after letting it dry really let me amp up the contrast.

I’m not sure what I was aiming for with that bikini top, it looks like she stole it from a circus performer. Which actually totally tracks with the character, I guess.

WIP sketch: Kobold Swordplay

During the last D&D campaign things got a bit too serious for Danger Noodles to keep fooling around with her whip, so out came the rapier which she successfully used to stab several bad guys right in their t’aints and other bits that *should* specifically count as critical hits, c’ome on now!

(It *is* a precision weapon in the hands of someone under four feet tall, where else to you expect her to aim it? There are things downstairs other than knees and Achilles tendons that‘ll take the fight out of a guy real fast, it should count as a headshot in my book.)

Sketch is on watercolor paper, planning to go that route to finish it. I did a practice thing with watercolor a few days ago that I’d post here but I don’t think Lovander from Palworld quite counts as a Kobold.

Beach Blanket Boondoggle (Coloring Practice)

Edit: Timelapse video. I posted this a few months ago when I was just learning how to use Procreate on my broken-down iPad and really had no idea how to use it, so I didn’t even try to color it. I’ve learned enough from the last few doodles that I decided to do *something* with it, just to say I did. (It’s kind of a lost cause, pretend it’s intentionally bad. It *is* intentionally kitsch.)

And I don’t know what the red kobold is offering the dragon either. I think it’s one of those gawdawful jello mold things from a 50’s cookbook.

Dragon’s Little Friend

Doodle I made to play with making two very different size characters interact. The coloring isn’t finished, feel like I spent way too long mucking around with trying for a sort of comic/graphic novel vibe.

Edit: Time-Lapse video of me drawing this, in case anyone wants to learn the wrong way to draw dragons and kobolds.

Danger Noodles: Kobold Adventurer, Rogue, Assassin… Waitress…

Gotta always be hustling, those bail bond bills aren’t going to pay themselves.

(A ten minus doodle turned into bait for trying again to practice coloring in Procreate; obviously not “finished”, but if the background didn’t give it away my attention span is used up.)

Quadrubold?

A bit more dragon-y than your standard Kobold, but still a huge fangirl when it comes to the real deal.

(My kid’s recently really into Posca paint markers; I asked if I could try them, she handed me a piece of cardstock possibly cut out of a shoebox and ordered me to “not fight the pens”. I think I fought the pens.)

Birthday Kobolds

Today I was handed a 4x5” folded piece of fancy paper and told to draw a birthday card to mail to a nephew ASAP. So I tried. I doubt he reads this part of the internet so hopefully this doesn’t prematurely ruin his party.

Inside I wrote the Monster Manual entry for a “Birthday Kobold” (Type: Party Animal/Draconic Humanoid; Alignment: Chaotic Festive; No. Appearing: Age x D20) and told him to roll initiative.

Doodle: The Untrustworthy Kobold Maid

(Drawn on the back of a piece of printer paper that I kept notes on during the last D&D session so quality wasn’t job one, sorry.) Inspired by Valsalia’s take on the Argonian maid, which I stumbled across recently while binging through Out-Of-Placers.
