Best way to take in waist of these pants?
Hi Reddit! I'm a beginner at sewing but I'm hoping to improve my skills and make these pants fit me better. They're a couple inches too big in the waist. The back side of the pants are an elastic waistband and the front is plain, no elastic.
I thought maybe I could just shorten the elastic in the back but after ripping into the waistband and seeing how these are constructed, seems like that maybe wouldn't be the best option as the elastic is sewn onto the waistband on the top and bottom and I'd have to seam rip the entire thing and put it all back. So now I'm thinking my options might be:
A) take the pants in on the sides by folding the waistband onto itself a bit
B) sew darts into the back
I would love any advice! Also I can provide more photos if these aren't sufficient. Thanks in advance :)
