5w5d pregnant, no Yolk sac yet. Should i be worried?
Hi everyone,
I am currently 5 weeks and 5 days pregnant based on my last menstrual period.
Yesterday I had a transvaginal ultrasound at a university hospital. My beta hCG level was approximately 5,900 mIU/mL. The ultrasound showed a gestational sac measuring 10.5 mm, and the report stated that the findings were “consistent with 6 weeks of pregnancy.”
However, no yolk sac or fetal pole was seen yet.
My main concern is that I have read that a yolk sac is usually visible once the gestational sac reaches 8 to 10 mm, and mine was already 10.5 mm. This has made me very anxious about the possibility of a blighted ovum or another abnormal pregnancy.
My doctor was not concerned and asked me to return in two weeks for a follow-up ultrasound (I scheduled it for 7 weeks and 5 days so that hopefully everything, including the heartbeat, will be clearly visible).
I have not had any bleeding, and my symptoms are mild but present.
Has anyone had a similar experience where the gestational sac was around 10 to 11 mm and the yolk sac was not seen yet, but the pregnancy turned out to be completely normal?
I would really appreciate any experiences or reassurance. Right now my thoughts are bouncing around like caffeinated squirrels in a tiny library. 🐿️📚☕
Thank you so much. 💛
