Which unis to choose ?

I recently got into UBCO (University of British Columbia, Okanagan Campus), Canada and Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China. The former is in 40th and the latter in 47th place according to QS. However, I am not sure about going to these unis. I think about taking a gap year and apply to more prestigious universities. But the thing is that I am not sure that it wil make sense. I mean, I am learning to write a research paper, going to robotics lab, VR lab, and learning python. I wanted to ask: does it worth taking a gap year and applying to more prestigious unis like Princeton, Stanford (my dream schools), Oxford, and Cambridge ?

I recently got into the UBC Okanagan campus. My intended major is Bachelor of Science (Engineering). I wanted to ask whether I should go to the university or should I better take a gap year and apply for higher universities ? I am asking this because I kinda feel not really happy about getting in this uni. I know that it is a prestigious, great Canadian uni, but, in my mind, there is a thought and imagination of going to top US universities. I do not know, maybe it is because I have watched many videos on YouTube about some people getting into American unis and living happily. I feel kinda not filled with where I am right now. The feeling of not getting into top us uni, and I also think that I am going to regret all my life about not taking a gap year and giving it a try. However, from other point of view, I feel that I should be grateful for what god gave me. In short, I do not know what to do now, and also I got in without any scholarships, so government of my country will provide scholarship; but the thing is that I have to work for my country (for a salary of course) for five years after graduating. I do not know what to do. Could you advise something ? Thank you in advance.
