can oral herpes cause genital herpes?
sorry if this is a dumb question, but i'm getting a lot of mixed answers online and it's making me anxious. a few weeks ago i hooked up with someone and there was oral sex involved. later on, i remembered they had mentioned getting cold sores before, and ever since then i've been wondering if i should be worried about herpes.
can oral herpes actually cause genital herpes through oral sex? if so, how common is it? does it only happen if someone has an active cold sore at the time, or can it still spread when there aren't any visible symptoms? i've seen people say both things online and now i'm not sure what to believe.
i don't have any obvious symptoms right now, but i've been paying way too much attention to every little itch, ingrown hair, or random sensation and it's driving me crazy. just wondering if anyone here has been in a similar situation or knows how doctors usually look at this kind of exposure. am i overthinking it, or is this something worth getting checked out? thanks.
