Phones “ringing back” to paralegals

My small firm only has one phone number and attorneys do not keep a cell. We handle mostly criminal, slightly less family, and I work with the solo personal injury attorney. We have a receptionist, intake coordinator, and AI voicemail, but calls not answered by reception or intake ring back to the criminal & family paralegals, and myself who are expected to answer. They ring back to us numerous times a day. I find it quite overwhelming to “play receptionist” on top of handling my own caseload, as ringing phones are quite a distraction. I’m wondering if this is a practice anyone else has ever experienced or if I have any leeway to push back?

Leaving slow boutique firm for mid-size, poor idea?

I’ve only been at my current position for 9 months, PI litigation supporting one attorney. I only have ~16 cases and find myself with no work/bored all day. Required to be in office daily. I’m paid fairly and get along with my attorney but there’s some tricky firm politics I dislike and currently unstable morale. Overall it’s fine, but I’m bored out of my mind.

Would it be a good decision to leave this cushy spot for a fast-paced, midsize firm in the class action department, or do I have it made to have such little work in PI? I’m worried about jumping into something well over my head and not realizing I’ve made a bad decision. Also notable the new firm has the perk of hybrid work, significant as a 30-minute commuter.
