Has anyone successfully filed a formal complaint with an airline?

I had a rough experience last year (long delay, lost baggage, and basically no response from customer service). When I tried to file a formal complaint afterward, I found the process confusing and ended up giving up.

For those who’ve gone through this:

  • Did you complete the complaint process?
  • What parts were hardest?
  • Did you ever get a response or compensation?

I’m trying to figure out whether it’s worth pushing through next time and what to expect. Any advice or experiences would be really helpful.

I’m looking for a subreddit where people discuss airline complaints, delayed flights, lost baggage, and whether filing formal complaints actually leads to refunds or compensation.

I had a really bad experience last year (delay + lost baggage), and when I tried to file a formal complaint it was confusing enough that I gave up. I’m interested in hearing from others who’ve gone through the process — what made it difficult, and whether it led anywhere.
