Solo female traveller from Canada looking for a dreamy Mexico destination this winter 🌴🍋🍹
I really want to do a solo trip this winter and originally my dream was Italy, but honestly it feels SO far and expensive right now. Mexico feels a lot more realistic for me — direct flight, shorter travel day, warmer, and a bit less intimidating for my first completely solo trip.
I’m looking for recommendations for somewhere in Mexico that feels:
- safe for a solo woman
- beautiful + walkable
- boutique hotel or gorgeous Airbnb vibes (not massive all-inclusive chains)
- authentic food/culture
- fresh fruit, ceviche, tacos, tequila, margaritas
- beach + cafe energy
- shopping, wandering, slower lifestyle
- somewhere I can relax but still explore
I’m not really into giant party resorts or super touristy spring break energy. I’m more drawn to charming coastal towns, aesthetic cafes, little restaurants, local markets, beach walks, maybe cooking classes, etc.
Open to ANY location right now — Puerto Escondido, Sayulita, Oaxaca coast, Tulum, San Pancho, Isla Mujeres, Todos Santos, etc. I honestly have no idea where fits my vibe best.
Would especially love:
- hotel/Airbnb recommendations
- safest areas to stay
- places where you genuinely enjoyed being alone
- how you handled transportation as a solo traveller
- anything you wish you knew before going
Thank you 🫶
