Did anyone else notice the shift in Agnes during her interactions with Commander Weston? Especially the moment where “Mother” suddenly becomes “Paula,” and then Weston immediately backs Agnes up over something as small as the Calla lilies vs. ranunculus conversation?

It felt like Agnes was realizing in real time just how much power the man she’s about to marry actually has and how quickly that power changes the hierarchy around her. But at the same time, Weston and Agnes seem to have completely different ideas about what this marriage is going to be.

Do you guys think Agnes is beginning to see marriage in Gilead as a form of protection/power for herself, or is she starting to realize she’s entering another kind of cage entirely? And do you think Weston genuinely likes her( let me specify, LIKE HER ENOUGH TO NOT GO THE ROUTE OF ABUSE AND ASSAULT OF THE RIP, it seems my original message was somehow still misinterpreted) or mostly likes the idea of having someone young, beautiful, and obedient? Because truly I don’t think that any of these disgusting guys are capable of genuinely liking them bc they are young girls ALSOOOO GUYS COMMANDER MACKENZIE!?! He’s having a hard time accepting the protocols it seems especially now because his baby girl is now apart of this, for the book readers without any spoilers does that become an issue later on??
