1979 Honda C650 Carb Choke Valve Plating
I bought a 1979 Honda CB650 off FB some years ago that was is great condition, and he had already done a carb rebuild on the bike. This past winter I failed to winterize the bike and the carbs became clogged. I just disassembled the carbs fully and let them soak in a 50/50 mix of pinesol and water overnight. Today when I was going through the parts and wiping them down when I noticed the yellow/brass looking coating was coming off of a few different parts (i/e the choke valve plates, choke valve connecting rods, rear bracket linkages, etc).
My question is will this become a problem if I dont get them replated. I’m specifically concerned about the choke valve plates and rods because they’re inside the carbs and would rather not have bits of rust shooting into my engine later down the line. Would it be worth getting replate or would it be fine?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
