Just got the Orin upgrade (yay) and noticed the Homelink app was added with the software update (yay). My delight was short lived when I got Homelink working with my garage door and realized how terrible the implementation of this function is: no automated geofencing functionality, 2 step process if driving forward, 4 step process if driving in reverse (such as backing out of your garage). If driving forward you have to tap the Homelink app button and then tap again to open the garage door. If you are in reverse it is worse: you have to stop, put it in park, then do the two-step tap.

My 2014 Tesla Model S that I drove for 11 years had geofencing with Homelink so it would automatically activate the opener as I arrive or left. Occasionally it wouldn’t close the door after I backed out, but that was ok because even in reverse the Homelink button was available at the top of the screen so I could manually activate it.

So geofencing Homelink is at least 12-year-old tech that somehow Polestar didn’t implement. The reverse issue is bad enough that I’m carrying my remote opener in the car again. Come on Polestar: do better!
