r/ApteraMotors

I know aptera wouldn't suggest a negative future by saying "you know, if we dont make it to market, our patents alone are worth the price." But why don't I hear more about that from elsewhere?

Even if it was just the one patent on body shape. Nobody can ever build a more efficient body shape for that class of vehicle. Can't out engineer a raindrop. Then there's molded solar panels. Any car company maybe want that? Tithes go right here. I feel like this isn't mentioned enough. Shark tank gets all excited about patents. My poor ass bought 300 shares at $5 a share and I'm not the slightest bit worried. First because im confident in everything i have seen and the people involved. Second cuz i just dont care, i have a cut of the patent to the most efficient chassis possible in it's class. Apparently I'm not even supposed to post this here? I'm talking about the only car I've ever wanted to own and you want me to post in r stocks? No I want to talk to people in this forum please and thank you mods. This question is for the aptera community.

Negativity - is this just human?

I've been following the Slate Truck launch and watching the dialogue around it has been fascinating.

I've always thought that the negativity and sniping in the Aptera community was a bit overblown but geeze, people that don't like the Slate concept are super quick and very loud about it.

All that to say, if/when Aptera finally makes production and people that haven't paid attention until that moment see it for the first time, I predict we will get a massive influx of people really eager (and with no knowledge of why any design decision was made) to tell the world why it's dumb and wrong, or why nobody should buy it because it's missing the one feature they care about. Etc.

I guess my real point is, we should brace ourselves.

Possibly dumb question

I was noticed that a local construction site was using what looked like rigid foam panels with one side being reflective like a mirror or like some sort of foil. Kind of like an auto sunshade.

What if someone positioned a few of these to reflect more sun onto an Aptera? Would that add range, or are the panels only good for the amount of light the sun puts out, not double that amount?

Worse case would be the extra light and heat damaging the vehicle. If that's the case, there are buildings with reflective windows that might be able to cause damage.

You could just buy some solar panels and (with the right adapter/converter) charge the batteries that way, right?
